By learning when and where to limp in and re-raise you'll have yet another way to increase your poker profits. The What: Limp re-raising refers to limping in pre-flop (just calling the big blind), waiting for one of your opponents to raise, and then re-raising when the action gets back to you. What is limping in poker? In a situation where no one has raised preflop, and you have a playable hand, you have the choice to call or raise. Merely calling the big blind is also known as limping, and when you are the first limper, it is called open-limping. Aggressive poker approach dictates raising, not limping. To call the minimum required bet without raising, and then reraising after an opponent in later position has raised. EXAMPLE: 'I knew someone would raise in late position to try and steal the pot, so I decided to limp-raise.' Poker limp raise. If you do limp re-raise and get called, then you almost always want to bet the flop. This is because your perceived range is so strong that your continuation bets will almost always work. Most people will put you on a hand like aces, kings, queens, or AK. To limp in poker is to bet the absolute minimum needed to stay in a hand. Limping is often used when the little blind simply calls the big blind instead of raising. It's also known as limp in, flat call, or calling the blind. An open limp is when the first player to enter the pot preflop bets only the amount of the big blind, the minimum bet.
